KUCHING, SEPT 9: A 70-year-old man sustained injuries to his arms and legs after he fell victim to a snatch theft here.
In the 5.30am incident on Thursday, the victim was walking alone to the market along Jalan Sungai Maong Kiri here when he was waylaid by two knife-wielding suspects.
A scuffle then ensued, resulting in the injuries when the victim tried to resist.
“However, the suspects managed the flee with RM150 belonging to the victim.
“One of the suspects, a 31-year-old man was arrested in the afternoon on the same day following a police report by the victim,” said Kuching Distict Police Chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah.
Ashmon added that one of the suspects, a 31-year-old with various past criminal record was picked up by a team of policemen from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Jalan Nanas Barat here this afternoon.
The victim who is currently being treated at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) is reported to be in a stable condition.
“The suspect has a total of nine past criminal records for various offences including drug-related cases,” added Ahsmon.
Ahsmon added that the case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed snatch theft.
