KUCHING, 9 Jan: Perbincangan akan diadakan bagi memperhalusi kerjasama dalam menerapkan nilai serta konsep perpaduan dalam pembangunan industri sukan dan komuniti belia.

KUCHING, 9 Jan : Sarawak is a notable state, well-known for its richness in diversity and cultural activities. As such , the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), on joint efforts with the Sarawak government will enhance the concept of unity in the development of sports on the federal-level.

Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh, citing Sarawak as an example, the concept of unity should be cultivated into the youth and sports industry in Malaysia.

“The concept of unity and multiculturalism which exists in Sarawak is strong, and the Ministry wants to see how these can be realised into flourishing the youth and sports sector.”

“Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has shared his ideas and opinions on the concept. Hence, we will bring back his ideas to Putrajaya, to see how future cooperations can be made.”

Yeoh also shared in the one-hour meeting, Abang Johari has expressed his openness to collaborate with the Federal Government to realise the vision.

Commenting further, she also added that further discussions will be made regarding the matter with Sarawak Minister of Youth and Sports Sarawak Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah in a courtesy call scheduled to be held in Putrajaya this coming January 16.

In the spirit of the Malaysian Agreement 1963 (MA63), Yeoh said she will be committing her time in visiting Sabah and Sarawak once a month to look into aspects of youth and sports in both states.

“For myself, I am committing my time to ensure that there will be visits to Sabah and Sarawak to dive into the sports industry and working alongside both states.”

Meanwhile, Yeoh also expressed her interest in exploring the potential of aquatic sports in Sarawak from the grassroots level.

“Aquatic sports has always been the strength in Sarawak, and this is what differentiates Sarawak from other states.”

“Hence, the Ministry wants to learn the landscape of the development of aquatic sports and the exposure of this sport for youths since a young age,” she said this when met after making a courtesy call to Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia on Monday (January 9).
