KUCHING, June 16 : Korean-pop sensation, BTS left their fans shattered after their announcement on taking a break from group activities to pursue solo projects and claiming exhaustion as one of the factor.
Many in South Korea and from all around the world were taken aback by the abrupt news from the band. The band consisting of seven members were approaching their military service age which brought up speculations on it as the possible factor of the group’s decision.
The band produce and releases music with youth empowerment messages embedded in their upbeat hits which have turned them to be the global stars they are today.
The K-pop industry, as big as it is, is also known as a very strict profit-making system which sometimes leads to their stars not being able to rest or having a burned out.
News from all over the world reported that fans were left tearful and relieved that the band was just going on a hiatus and not breaking up.
They had mixed feelings and reactions as they were both upset by the news but wanted to give their full support to the members with their decisions, in the hope that the members are getting the rest they deserved.
Dania a student and an “Army” as they all called themselves, from Kuching Sarawak said that while she understand their reasons for taking break, it is still a a bitter news to swallow.
“I understand why they are taking a break..they must be really tired after working so hard all these years..but still..that is not a good news to me”..she said.
Her friend, Mel who is also a student was in a less forgiving mood upon hearing the news but vow to wait and continue supporting BTS members with their new project.
“I was devastated when i hear the news..i want them to keep making new songs. They can rest later. But i will keep supporting them..no matter what.” she said when met near a Private school in Kuching.
The group had recently have their anthology album, “Proof”, released on Friday (June 10) with title track “Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment)”. The album consisted of songs reminiscing their 10-year journey as a band including personal songs curated by the members.
In May, the band had visited the White House to meet with U.S. President Joe Biden for the discussion on hate crimes against Asians.
Armys from across the globe are looking forward towards supporting the members’ solo projects and is hopeful for the band to return stronger in the future. – TVS
