KOTA SAMARAHAN, 6 Dec : Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Stakan candidate, Datuk Hamzah Brahim, pledged to not be complacent, despite his years of experience as a political secretary.
However, he vowed to use it as a foundation to fight for the rights of the community in Stakan.
“I don’t see the position that I held before as an advantage. I see it as a foundation. What matters to me is my commitment and passion to fight for the right of the local community. That’s the most important thing,” Hamzah said.
if given the mandate, Hamzah assured that he will serve the community well, especially youth, in order to develop the economy in Stakan.
“One of my agenda, to empower the economy for the youth and community in Stakan, is to provide the right source of information, vital information that can be a link or a bridge for them to improve the economy, especially among the youth in Stakan.
“For Stakan, there is no dominant race. Thus, the unity, prosperity and harmony that exist in Stakan must be maintained. That’s the most important thing. We must help each other, regardless of race. Everyone has the right to live in the Land of the Hornbills in harmony and unity. This concept has been emphasised by GPS for so long,” he said.
Hamzah, one of the new faces unveiled by GPS chairman, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, last Friday, emphasised that harmony and unity were the party’s key attributes.
Hamzah will be engaged in a four-corner fight against George Young Si Ricord Junior from Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), Leslie Ting Xiang Zhi from Democratic Action Party (DAP), and Atet Dego from Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK).
During the 11th State Election, Datuk Amar Mohammad Ali Mahmud, who stood under the Barisan Nasional ticket then, won the N.17 Stakan seat, after beating his opponent from DAP, Leslie Ting Xian Zhi, with a majority of 7,042 votes. – TVS
