KUCHING: A construction worker was crushed to his death by a crane boom that collapsed at a construction site along Jalan Petanak, Kuching today.
Prior to the incident the victim was working at a plot of the construction site maneuvering the crane.
The aftermath of the impact caused the victim to be pinned between the crane and the bore piles.
The deceased identified as Manggi Nanjus, 51, died on the spot in the 7.21pm accident.
According to Padungan Firestation Chief, Tan Ming Chai said firefighters were faced with difficulty recovering the body due to site situation and wet conditions, as the body was decapitated.
However, rescue work has been completed and body has since been handed over to the police.
