KUCHING, Nov 24: Election Commission (EC) has announced December 6 and December 18 as the official dates for nomination and polling day for the upcoming Sarawak 12th State Election.
The announcement was made by EC Chairman, Datuk Abdul Ghani Salleh at a press conference after chairing a special meeting held at renowned hotel today.
In addition, campaign period have been set to 12 days beginning Monday, Dec 6 until 11.59 PM on December 17.
A total of 346 polling centres will be opened statewide from 7:30 AM to 5 PM, while another 1,520 polling centres will be opened according to the designated time.
The budget allocated for the 12th State Election is RM150 million, an increase as compared to RM135.6 million in the previous state polls.
Meanwhile, the standard operating procedures (SOP) for the election is in the midst of fine tuning by the Ministry of Health, National Security Council, Royal Malaysian Police and Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).
The SOPs will be announced at a later date.
