Elderly disabled died from Covid-19

Kuching, 11 September: A 66-year- old woman from Sibu has become the latest casualty of Covid-19.

The deceased, a Frontal Lobe Syndrome patient was among ten aged between 48 and 89 who succumbed to the disease today.

Today sees Sarawak’s sixth streak in recording the highest infections; 3743 cases where 81.49 per cent or 3,050 cases were categorised in category one, 685 cases in category two, single case for category three and four and six cases classified in category 5.

Kuching recorded the highest, with 1,405 cases followed by Sibu (420), Bintulu (311), Samarahan (214), Bau (158), Sri Aman (146) and Miri (122).

Two new clusters were detected; the Sungai Sawa Cluster and Nansang Wak Cluster both, identified in Pakan.

Half of 74 Person Under Investigation (PUI) individuals from Sungai Sawa Cluster contracted the virus while 41 out of 102 individuals from Nansang Wak cluster were infected.

Meanwhile, six clusters have ended namely Lunyim Cluster, Telang Usan; Tembok Miri Cluster, Miri; KINDA KM18 Cluster, Bintulu; Jalan Airport Cluster, Kuching; Kampung Sebat Melayu Cluster, Lundi and Jalan Datuk Abang Abdul Rahim Cluster in Kuching.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) also implemented the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in 20 locations in Sri Aman, Bintulu, Tatau, Pusa, Pakan, Sarikei and Betong.

The EMCO has also been extended at Rumah Ngilah, Bara; Rumah Sambun, Nanga Kesit in Lubok Antu; Rumah Gindu, Lubau Baru in Betong; Kampung Hilir in Pusa and Kampung Keranji in Lundu while it has ceased in eight locations across Saratok, Lundu, Bau, Betong and Belaga.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Royal Police Force (PDRM) issued 25 compounds today due to several instances such as failing to scan Mysejahtera when entering premises, not wearing face mask, illegal exit from quarantine centres and premises who are operating under the negative list.
