Mukah, September 11: More than 1,000 students aged 16 to 17 have been inoculated over the course of two days here.
360 students from SMK Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajah Normah in Daro received the Pfizer vaccine today and the session took place from 8.00am to about 5.00pm.
Most students were accompanied by their parents just like Mohd Firdaus Pastini, who seems delighted to receive his shot.
“I am happy that I was picked as one of the first few people in my town to receive my vaccine.
“This is one of the most crucial steps in preventing and minimising the effects of being infected with by COVID-19,” said Firdaus who was accompanied by his father.
SMK Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajah Normah was transformed into a Vaccination Centre (PPV) for the purpose of administering vaccine to students.
Similarly, yesterday both SMK Oya and SMK Dalat were also transformed into temporary PPVs where both centres recorded a total of 687 students being inoculated.
Out of the total number, 359 were 16-year-olds while the remainder, 328 students were 17-year-olds.
Nooryana Omar, a student of SMK Dalat was nervous while waiting for her turn to receive her vaccine shot.
She was accompanied by her mother Hasline Idu.
Notably, there were 12 students from Nanga Baoh – a remote area in Mukah, were also present at both PPVs.
