KUCHING, Feb 21: Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, described the passing of Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud akin to losing a mentor.
She said that the late leader was a mentor who inspired her to pursue politics.
“Tun Taib was the first person to introduce me to the world of politics when I was a Member of Parliament in 2008 until now.
“His passing is a great loss not only for Sarawak, but also for the country, and for me personally because I received many lessons from him,” she said in a statement, today.
Nancy said the late Taib devoted his entire life to developing and building Sarawak.
“Only Allah can repay all the services and contributions of the late leader to the people of Sarawak,” she said.
Taib, a statesman and Father of Modernisation of Sarawak, breathed his last at the age of 87 at a private hospital in Kuala Lumpur at 4.28 AM earlier today.
