KUALA LUMPUR (JULY 4): Malaysia will receive one million doses of covid-19 Pfizer vaccine contributed by the United States on July 5.
Foreign minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said, these vaccines will greatly help intensify Malaysia’s vaccination process and make meaningful progress to the ongoing rollout of Malaysia’s national covid-19 immunization programme.
He added, Malaysia is highly appreciative of the invaluable support extended by the US through its embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
This includes the in-kind contribution of medical supplies, personal protective equipment (PPE), and ICT equipment worth US$250,000.
Meanwhile, in the effort to ensure fair global access to the covid-19 vaccine, Malaysia is ready to forge comprehensive cooperation with the United States in vaccine development and distribution.
At the same time, Hishammuddin’s letter to blinken on June 4 had reiterated that Malaysia welcomes President Joe Biden’s announcement of the United States’ expression of support for a temporary waiver of the intellectual property protection on Covid-19 vaccines.
