RAFAH, Jan 17: Over 100 days after the escalated bombing in Palestine since October 7th, resulting in 24,285 fatalities, the conflict persists.
In the recent 24 hours, Israel conducted 12 airstrikes targeting Palestinian families in Gaza, leading to 147 casualties and at least 252 injuries, with a significant number being women and children.
Although Israel claims that it had given instructions to Palestinians on where to flee, such actions were merely lies said a displaced Palestinian to AFP correspondents in Gaza.
“The people were sleeping in their houses when the Israel Defence Force (IDF) told us to go south.
“But when we came to the south but there is no safe place in Gaza, neither in the North, nor in the South, nor the middle. Everything is being struck, everywhere is dangerous,” said Umm Muhammad Abu Odeh, a displaced Palestinian from Beit Hanoun.
The occupation forces also targeted the vicinity of Nasser Medical Hospital and the vicinity of Al-Amal Hospital that is affiliated with the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.
Another Palestinian woman, Tahrir Shoman said a recent attack had killed her niece while they were all asleep.
“They were sleeping and woke up to the sound of missiles. The entire place was filled with dust, we couldn’t see anything. groped around with our hands, unable to see each other, that’s what happened,” she told AFP correspondence in Gaza.
Today marks 102 days since the Hamas-Israel conflict erupted.
Besides fatalities, the number of injured which consist mostly women and children staggers at 61,154 all awaiting incoming medical treatment from emergency services that were allowed to enter the war-torn country today. – TVS
