MIRI: PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB) recently contributed Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) and disinfectant solution to the Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak to help curb the spread of COVID-19.
The items included 1,650 face masks, 1,000 gloves, 100 sets of protective suits and 220 litres of disinfectant solution.
PCSB-Sarawak Oil Division Senior General Manager Morris Mail handed over the contributions to Bomba Zone 6 Chief Law Poh Kiong at the Lopeng Fire and Rescue Station near Jalan Miri.
“Our aim is to support the front-liners in Miri who are conducting sanitisation operations at public areas and facilities, over and above their existing Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) responsibilities,” Morris said.
“In light of the recent spike in cases, PETRONAS is providing the necessary assistance to these enforcement personnel who are working tirelessly and risking their health to curb the spread of COVID-19. We are grateful for their dedications and sacrifices.”
Morris added that as a responsible and caring organisation, PETRONAS will continue to work closely with the relevant government agencies to provide the necessary support, especially during these challenging times.
“Our priority is the health and safety of our employees and the surrounding communities where we operate,” he added.
Last May, PCSB contributed 10 laptops to the Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) to support the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme here.
Morris handed over the laptops to State Minister of Transport and Minister in charge of Miri DDMC Datuk Lee Kim Shin at the Miri Resident Office. Also present was Acting Miri Resident and Chairman of Miri DDMC Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf.
“I wish to convey my appreciation to the Miri DDMC for their tireless efforts in managing the pandemic here. I hope that these laptops will help ensure that the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme in Miri is carried out smoothly and efficiently,” said Morris.
“With COVID-19 cases on the rise, we must continue to be even more vigilant and strictly adhere to all SOPs to beat this pandemic.”
Seven vaccination centres – Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club Miri Hall, Miri General Hospital, Marudi General Hospital, Dato Permaisuri Hall, Niah Public Medical Centre (Sepupok Hall), Long Lama Community Centre and the Marudi Civic Centre – are currently being utilised for the immunisation programme here.
This contribution complements initiatives by PETRONAS’ Corporate Social Responsibility arm, Yayasan PETRONAS, as well as other Groupwide contributions in responding to the pandemic.
