KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15: PETRONAS awarded scholarships to 600 accomplished students, demonstrating their commitment to Malaysia’s human capital development.
The company, a pivotal player in the nation’s education, showcased its dedication through the Powering Knowledge Education Sponsorship programme.
Its chairman Tan Sri Mohd Bakke Salleh, a strong advocate for educational excellence, emphasized the importance of investing in education for Malaysia’s future.
“Petronas believes that investing in education and human capital development at all levels will enable a continuous and sustainable pipeline of talent.
“Petronas Powering Knowledge programme is our ongoing commitment to champion the pursuit of knowledge among students and educators.
“We support their quest for quality education and are devoted to empowering them to strive for progress and impact a rapidly changing world,” he said this when officiating the award ceremony at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
He further added that the scholarships granted spanned a wide array of fields, covering science and technology, humanities and business among others.
“Scholars have pursued their tertiary education in disciplines that include Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Geophysics, Accounting, Marketing and Law.
“In addition to that, Petronas will also continue to sponsor students in the fields of Data Science and Data Engineering, as the company advances its digital transformation,” he added.
Petronas provides scholarships to outstanding students chosen through a rigorous process, enabling them to pursue higher education in Malaysia and abroad.
The scholarships encompass tuition fees, living expenses, and additional allowances, ensuring financial barriers don’t hinder their pursuit of education.
Additionally, PETRONAS offers mentorship and internship opportunities, setting the stage for a promising future either within the corporation or their chosen career paths.
Since 1975, Petronas has awarded education sponsorship to more than 38,000 deserving students of high academic calibre who dare to push boundaries with a performance mindset and leadership capabilities.
