KUCHING, MAY 23: The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) plans to construct 1,298 units of affordable housing over the next two years.
Minister of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government, Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian said the project worth RM192.08 million aims to address the state’s housing challenges.
Building upon the successful completion of 862 units of affordable housing under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).
“A total of 862 units of affordable housing Rumah SPEKTRA Permata (RSP) undertaken by HDC have been completed.
“Consisting 504 units at Darul Hana 1A and 2A, 122 units RSP Bunga Rampai, 110 units RSP Kemuyang, 26 units RSP SPK Lundu, 25 units RSP SPK Sematan, 10 units RSP SPK Lingga, 22 units RSP Igan, 20 units RSP SPK Tian, three units RMM Kampung Datu Baru and 20 units RSP SPK Majelin,” he told the August House during his winding-up speech at the State Legislative Assembly Sitting earlier today.
He further said that a total of five 12MP projects are currently on-going which involves the construction of 468 units of affordable housing in Kuching, Miri, Betong and Limbang.
At the same time, People’s Housing Programme (PPR) Seduan is the only ongoing federal funded project which comprise of 461 single-storey terrace houses, scheduled to complete in August 2023.
Dr. Sim also pointed out that in his recent visit to his counterpart at Federal, his ministry submitted six additional PPR sites for consideration which is now pending approval. -TVS
