BATANG KALI, Dec 21: The search and rescue operation for the eight remaining missing victims of the landslide tragedy at Father’s Organic Farm camping site, Gohtong Jaya last Friday, has resumed this morning.
The operation is now entering its sixth day after being suspended at 12 midnight yesterday.
Prior to the suspension, rescuers found the body of a young girl at 11.15 pm, bringing the confirmed death toll to 25.
The unstable soil plus heavy mud are somewhat posing difficulties in the search effort.
Rescuers, however, seem driven to perform their search duty despite three officers and personnel needing treatment for sickness and light injuries.
The latest developments last night saw up to 61 survivors, 25 casualties and eight more still missing out of a total 94 victims involved in the landslide incident at the camping site at 2.42 am, last Friday. – TVS
