WASHINGTON , Dec 19: Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has created a Twitter poll asking users if he should step down as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the social media platform, Sputnik reported.
“Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll,” Musk tweeted on Sunday.
As of Monday, 12PM Malaysia time, over 9.5 million people have participated in the poll, with more than 56.4 percent being in favour In favour of him vacating the position.
“As the saying goes, be careful what you wish, as you might get it.” said Musk in another tweet, as commenting to the early result of the poll.
In October 2022, Musk concluded his purchase of the US$44 billion company Twitter.
Following the buyout, he has changed the day-to-day operations, which includes the firing of the company’s top executives and half of its workforce.
As of last week, the social media company has disbanded its Trust and Safety Council, a volunteer group formed to advise in regards of site decisions.
Right before posting the poll, Musk tweeted that Twitter will have “a vote for a major policy changes”. -TVS
