“No one left behind” – Uggah

KUCHING, Dec 1: The Sarawak government remains committed in its effort to bring development to rural areas.

As such, Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development (MIPD) Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said RM4.5 billion or 60 per cent of the RM7.5 billion allocated to the Development Budget has been set aside for rural development purposes as Sarawak still lacks in terms of its infrastructure development as compared to Peninsular Malaysia.

“This generous budget allocation highlights the commitment and determination of the state government to ensure that Sarawak will progress, and that the well-being of our people will continue to flourish.

“This allocation is both welcome and necessary,” he said this in his ministerial winding-up speech in DUN Sitting here today (Dec 1).

Meanwhile, MIPD has been allocated a total sum of RM795.711 million to undertake four basic infrastructure programs.

“MIPD has received an allocation of RM490.941 million for land infrastrucure, RM83.860 million for riverine infrastructure, RM167.410 million for government buildings and RM53.500 million for public buildings,” Uggah added.

As such, he reiterated that through these allocations, the government will continue to ensure that no one is left behind. – TVS
