KUCHING, Nov 30: The Ministry for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development has approved 1,999 units of houses under the Malaysian Family Housing Programme (PRKM) with a total cost of RM50 million to provide safer and better housing and living condition of the poor.
Its Minister Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom said, his ministry this year has allocated a total sum RM80.55 million for the implementation of PRKM in Sarawak by various agencies.
“The ministry has approved 1,999 units of houses for both new and repair of houses with a total cost of RM50 million for Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3, which are in various stages of implementation.
“The rate has increased from RM68,000 to RM79,000 for building of new houses and RM15,000 to RM17,000 for repair works,” he said in his winding up speech at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) today. – TVS
