KUCHING, NOV 6 – GPS coalition has proven an excellent track record since its establishment.
Led by its chairman, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, the coalition has implemented various programs, initiatives and gained numerous successes in political, economic, social, and welfare of the people of Sarawak.
“The voters of Sarawak must be wise by choosing GPS for political and social stability, progress and development, and economic prosperity.
“The interests of Sarawak will also be prioritized by the Federal Government when formulating its policies, initiatives, and allocation of development funds,” he said when unveiling the GPS manifesto on Sunday.
Abang Johari further added, that one of the crown achievements was the amendment of the Federal Constitution and restoring Sarawak’s equal partner status as envisaged during the formation of Malaysia in 1963, which leads to a discussion on the Malaysia Treaty 1963 which was agreed upon in principle by the Federal Government.
Previously on October 6th, 2022, GPS also successfully demanded a state representative to be a board member of the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) of Malaysia along with Sabah.
“With strong savings and alternative sources of income, Sarawak has been able to come up with a budget of more the RM10 billion a year for development,” he said.
Abang Johari added that GPS has strengthened the functions and cooperation between the state and federal department agencies within the state.
Commenting further, the implementation of the ninth Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance Packages (BKSS) which is worth more than RM6.7 billion has benefited those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and enabled Sarawakians to live normal lives.
The chairman continued, in 2022, GPS has introduced and implemented the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 to help the people of Sarawak and to accelerate in achieving a high-income and developed state by 2030 specifically targeting economic prosperity, social well-being, and environmental sustainability.

Among those present during the manifesto’s launch were Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president, Dato Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum, Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) senior vice-president Datuk Paul Igai, as well as Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) permanent chairman, Tan Sri Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar. – TVS
