KUCHING, Oct 14: Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA) is well prepared to face the year-end monsoon season as it coincide with the 15th General Election (GE15).
Its director Datu Khirudin Drahman assured that preparations in terms of logistics and simulations to wade through any possible eventualities, be it flood or landslide, during this monsoon season.
As such, a contingency plan has been put in place, prioritising the peoples’ welfare and well-being at times of distress.
“Cooperation with the community is crucial with special approaches planned for the upcoming 15th General Election,” Khirudin said when met by reporter.
In addition to that, he pointed out that several relevant agencies namely the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and the Social Welfare Department will be collaborating with the department, throughout this period.
“The committee that oversees all the inter-agencies and corporations. There is no reason that we cannot work together to ensure a smooth election,” he added.
As such, the department had prepared rescue work in both hot spots and non-hot spots areas due to the extreme weather conditions. – TVS
