KUCHING, Sept 29: Police have obtained a remand order from the Magistrate Court against a man who allegedly pimping his underage daughter to repay debt.
The 45-year-old man has been remanded for five days until October 3 to assist with investigations into the case.
The remand was granted by Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi on Wednesday.
It is understood that the 10-year-old victim informed her teacher of her father’s intention, prompting the teacher to lodge a police report.
Acting on the report, the suspect was arrested at around 2pm on Tuesday at Mile 10th, Matang by a team of police from the Padawan district police headquarters.
Meanwhile, its police chief Superintendent Abang Zainal Abidin Abanh Ahmad when contacted confirmed the case.
The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for child negligence and Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape. -TVS
