BINTULU, 27 September: A search and rescue operation is underway for an Indonesian man who went missing after he was believed to be attacked by a crocodile at Sungai Semba, Samalaju, Bintulu.
Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) spokesperson when contacted said the three-day operations to locate Hermanto in his 40s were reactivated at the request of the Consulate of the Republic of Indonesia.
“The first day of the search led by Bintulu Bomba Chief Wan Kamarudin Wan Ahmad covers an area radius of two kilometers along both upstream and downstream of Sungai Samalaju and Sungai Semba.

“The operation was postponed at 6 pm with no leads of the victim’s whereabouts and will resume tomorrow (Wednesday),” he said.
Villagers also rendered their service in assisting the search team to locate the victim.
On September 18, an eyewitness Ardiansyah, said Hermanto was attacked by the vicious reptile and dragged to the other side of the river before disappearing. – TVS
