IRAN, June 26: The impact from the United States (US) missile strike on Iranian nuclear sites were exaggerated by President Donald Trump.
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said rather than successful strikes, the attack ‘did nothing significant’ to Iran’s nuclear facilities.
“The same people who exaggerated the issue in that case [US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites] tried to minimise it [Iranian strikes on US base in Qatar] and pretend that nothing had happened, when a major event had occurred.
“They attacked our nuclear facilities, which of course would merit criminal prosecution in international courts, but they did nothing significant.”
“This [US asking Iran to surrender] is a grave insult by the Americans towards the Iranian nation and such an event will never happen. It will never happen,” he said in a televised press conference on Tuesday.
He continued by stating that Iran will carry out more strikes on US bases in the region if Iran came under another attack by the US.
“The Islamic republic has access to important US bases in the region and can act against them whenever it deems it necessary is a significant matter.
“It can happen again in the future; if an attack occurs, the cost to the enemy and the aggressor will certainly be high,” he added. – TVS
