KUCHING, May 31: This year’s Gawai Dayak celebration is not only a time to honour Dayak heritage, but also an opportunity for Sarawakians returning home to witness the state’s transformation under the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian described Gawai as a meaningful time for reflection, especially for those coming back from abroad, to observe the rapid development taking place across the state.
“And for all those who are coming home from outside Sarawak, it is an opportunity to look at Sarawak and what we are doing in Sarawak and how we can help and contribute to our BCDS 2030,” he said in his Gawai Dayak 2025 message.
Meanwhile, Dr Sim emphasised that Sarawak is now firmly on a transformative path, owing to the state government’s inclusive and strategic development policies.
“Sarawak in 2025 is already a very different Sarawak from 2020 or 2015, but Sarawak in 2030 will be a different Sarawak because of you and because of me… because we came together for Sarawak’s nation building,” he said.
He went on to urge all communities to continue embracing the unity that defines Sarawak’s multicultural identity.
“In the best tradition of Sarawak, it is not just confined to the Dayak community; there are the Malays and the Chinese, we all come together to celebrate Hari Gawai,” he added.. – TVS
