KUALA LUMPUR, May 16: Affin Hwang Investment Bank Berhad has reinforced its commitment to inclusive education with the launch of a Sensory Therapy Room, specially designed for students under the Special Education Integration Programme (PPKI) at SMK Selayang Bharu, Selangor.
According to a media statement today, the therapy room is equipped with specialised lighting, interactive learning tools, and a calming atmosphere to help students improve focus, self-confidence, and receive positive intervention.
“At AFFIN HWANG, we believe every student, regardless of background or needs, deserves the opportunity to learn in a safe and supportive environment.
“The Sensory Therapy Room has been created to offer such a space to students at SMK Selayang Bharu, fostering improved learning outcomes and emotional development,” said Affin Hwang CEO Nurjesmi Mohd Nashir.
A total of 146 students are set to benefit from this new facility.
The initiative is part of the “Adopt A School” project implemented under the AFFIN Axelerate 2028 (AX28) strategic plan.
According to Nurjesmi, this marks the beginning of a long-term partnership with the school.
“It exemplifies our continuous efforts in delivering inclusive educational access while focusing on long-term empowerment through active community engagement.
“We are committed to enhancing educational opportunities for students with special needs and equipping them with the tools to thrive,” she added.
The launch ceremony also introduced the next phases of the initiative, which include financial literacy campaigns, environmental sustainability programmes, and the establishment of a vocational entrepreneurial café for students.
SMK Selayang Bharu Principal Budiman Menteri welcomed the support.
“The future of these children begins today, and with continued support, they will be empowered to realise their full potential,” he said.
