KUCHING, Feb 24: Sarawak’s first youth-produced short film, Sarawak Speed, showcases that the state’s youth are capable of telling stories that inspire, unite, and elevate their communities.
Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, emphasized that by championing film, performing arts, and digital content, the state is establishing a solid foundation for a sustainable creative economy.
“This initiative not only celebrates Sarawak’s distinctive cultural identity but also paves the way for promising career opportunities among its young people,” Karim said during the premiere held at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) auditorium, today.
Moreover, Karim hailed Sarawak Speed as a landmark achievement.
“This effort resonates with our broader vision of transforming Sarawak into a dynamic creative hub where art, culture, and technology merge to form a thriving industry,” he added.
Prior to the screening, Karim encouraged viewers to see the film as a testament to what Sarawak’s youth can accomplish.
“Let this be a reminder that our future is not only bright but brimming with untold stories, undiscovered talents, and milestones yet to be achieved,” he remarked.
Produced by the Young Malaysians Movement (YMM) Sarawak, it also marks a historic milestone as the first short film produced by YMM at the national level.
