KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 5: TV Sarawak (TVS) marked another milestone in broadcasting with a recent Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the China Intercontinental Communication Center (CICC).
During the ceremony held at the Connexion Conference & Event Centre on Thursday, Executive Deputy Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Media Group (SMG) Kushairi Abang highlighted the partnership as a pivotal step in strengthening bilateral ties between Malaysia and China in broadcasting and audiovisual media.
“Sarawak in particular, recognizes the immense potential of the audio-visual industry as a powerful tool for cultural diplomacy and economic advancement.
“As such, this partnership will unlock new opportunities in broadcasting while broadening technological and knowledge sharing among media professionals in Sarawak,” he added.
The MoU outlines initiatives such as creative idea exchanges, joint productions, and the airing of “Stories of Beijing” programs on TVS platforms.
Meanwhile, Qin Xu Dong, Chief Engineer of Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau (BRTB) emphasized that the collaboration would not only benefit the broadcasting industry but also enrich cultural ties between Malaysia and China.
“With this groundbreaking partnership, TVS continues to pave the way for innovation and cultural exchange in the broadcasting world, signaling a brighter future for Malaysia-China relations,” he added.
The MOU was signed by Kushairi Abang, Deputy Executive Chairman and CEO of Sarawak Media Group (SMG), in the presence of Dato’ Norhyati Ismail, Chairman of SMG.
Representing CICC was Sun Jing, Deputy Director of VideoChina Database, International Media Relations, CICC witnessed by Chen Youliang, Minister Counsellor, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia and Qin Xudong, Chief Engineer of the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau (BRTB) -TVS
