The Sarawak Traffic Light Intelligent Logistic Excellence (STILE) Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS), was unveiled today at a formal presentation held at the JKR Sri Aman AI Command Centre this morning.

STILE System debuts in Sri Aman, first traffic light system of its kind in East Malaysia

SRI AMAN, Oct 24: The Sarawak Traffic Light Intelligent Logistic Excellence (STILE) Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS), was unveiled today at a formal presentation held at the JKR Sri Aman AI Command Centre this morning.

In a statement today, Sri Aman Development Agency (SADA) said its Chairman, Dato Seri Rohani expressed admiration for the ITMS’s capabilities, after initially expecting the system to be similar to other traffic management systems such as found in Kuching.

“However, she (Rohani) was impressed by how STILE is far more advanced, featuring cutting-edge technology such as IoT, 5G, AI, machine learning violation detection, and its integration with the Sarawak Integrated Operation Center (SIOC), highlighting its SMART City features.

“She expressed great interest in expanding the system’s implementation across Sri Aman to optimize traffic management and support the town’s development,” SADA said in the statement.

In her speech at the presentation, Rohani said that she had informed Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on ITMS, the first of its kind in East Malaysia.

Stakeholders praised the presentation, noting that the STILE system is a key advancement in Sarawak’s smart infrastructure.

The system’s implementation is in line with the Smart City master plan under the Sarawak Digital Economy Blueprint 2030 and supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The statement also mentioned discussions on adopting intelligent solutions like “weight-in-motion” systems for logistics monitoring and smart LED billboards for better public communication.

“These technologies are in line with the vision of transforming Sri Aman into a smart city,” SADA added.

As part of a long-term vision, Rohani also emphasized the need to upgrade existing road infrastructure, such as upgrading roads to a four-lane carriageway.

Hence, SADA said it had approved funding for preliminary feasibility studies and design work, however, additional financial support will be necessary to cover the full construction costs.

The statement also said that the second route to Simanggang Town (Sri Aman Link Road), via Entulang to Bungkang and onward to Kejatau Road, has also been approved through SADA.

Also present during the STILE presentation were SADA Special Administrative Officer Datu Indit, Sri Aman Tuan Resident Mr. Mahra, JKR Sri Aman Divisional Engineer Ir. Ts. Br. Minjo, and representatives from the Road Transport Department (JPJ). – TVS
