KUCHING, Sept 19: Sarawak Energy, in partnership with Sarawak Badan Amal Tenaga Isteri-Isteri (SABATI), donated two haemodialysis machines to Simunjan Hospital recently as part of its community healthcare programme.

According to Sarawak Energy’s Senior Vice President for Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE), Marconi Madai, the collaboration with SABATI is in line with the organisation’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) pillar of community development and entrepreneurship.

“In collaboration with SABATI, this initiative reflects our shared responsibility to invest in community welfare.

“Sarawak Energy is committed to taking proactive actions to maximise the positive impact of our efforts in all areas of our social investment priorities, ensuring that all communities within our operational areas benefit positively,” he said in a statement released on Thursday.

Madai added that the initiative is crucial in replacing outdated and malfunctioning equipment, ensuring better access to essential healthcare services for the local community.

“It will also support the increasing demand for treatment at both hospitals,” Madai said.

The handover ceremony was officiated by SABATI Honorary Secretary Datin Hajah Siti Shorgayah Ahmad Zaidin, representing the President of SABATI, Datuk Amar Hajjah Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Haji Bujang.

The donation follows the first handover of two units to Bau Hospital on August 7, bringing this year’s total contribution to RM180,000 for four haemodialysis machines for Bau and Simunjan Hospitals.

Sarawak Energy and SABATI initiated their healthcare partnership in June 2020, beginning with the donation of two haemodialysis machines to Kapit and Lawas Hospitals. – TVS
