MIRI, July 16: A woman who was involved in a car accident in Jalan Taman Awam here on July 11 has passed away after fighting for her life for five days in Miri Hospital.
Miri District Police Chief, Assistance Commissioner Alexson Naga Chabu said the 32 year old victim breathed her last at 12.40 midnight.
“At 3.46 pm, an accident occurred involving two vehicles, a Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck driven by a 75 year old male, and a Perodua Viva driven by a 35 year old male.
“Preliminary investigations found the accident occurred after the Mitsubishi Triton, which came from the direction of the city center, lost control and veered into the opposite lane, colliding into the Perodua Viva which was heading towards the city center,” he said in a statement today.
He added, the collision caused severe damage to the front of both vehicles and resulted in bodily injuries to the driver and passenger of the Perodua Viva, while the driver of the Mitsubishi Triton sustained injuries to his forehead.
“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said. – TVS
