KUCHING, May 10: A delegation from Sarawak is invited to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan, this November.

The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Malaysia, Irfan Davudov, extended the invitation to the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg during a courtesy call today at the Premier’s Office in the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building here today.

“This is my first courtesy visit and hope it won’t be the last, as I will forge closer business relations with Sarawak’s universities,” he said when met after the courtesy call.

Moreover, he anticipates that a Malaysian delegation, which includes Sarawak, will take part in the conference as it is a critical issue for the governance and business communities.

Irfan also believes that both sides have potential for advancement in the fields of economics, education, humanitarianism, and culture.

Also present for the courtesy visit was the Director of the Foreign Ministry’s Sarawak Regional Office, Fenny Nuli.-TVS
