BDDA: RM82 million to bolster socio-economic sector

KUCHING, April 18: A total allocation of RM82 million has been approved for the socio-economic enhancement program for the people in areas under the administration of the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA).

Chairman of the BDDA Steering Committee, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, announced that RM 15.5 million has been earmarked for the implementation of various community impact projects this year.

“We’ve allocated RM82 million to bolstering income through our enhancement programme across all BDDA areas. This year alone, we’ve earmarked 15.5 million for implementation.

“We are committed to seeing this programme through, as it directly impacts our constituents in the BDDA regions.

“Our foremost priority is enhancing the livelihoods of rural communities, particularly those within the BDDA zones,” he said after chairing a meeting to discuss coordinating the implementation of BDDA projects related to agricultural assistance, livestock, fisheries, and entrepreneurs at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.

Uggah, who is also the Deputy Premier of Sarawak, emphasized that this significant allocation aligns with the government’s commitment to furnishing essential infrastructure aimed at catalyzing high-income generation within the region.

He further underscored the collective optimism among BDDA representatives for the seamless execution and sustained success of each planned project, ultimately yielding tangible benefits for the populace.

Also present were the Chairman of the BDDA Agriculture Sector Committee and State Legislative Assembly members Krian Friday Belik, Kalaka Mohd Duri, Beting Maro Razaili Gapor, and others.-TVS
