LUBOK ANTU, Apr 4: A female passenger tragically lost her life when she was thrown out and crushed by the pickup truck she was traveling in with two others in an accident at Lubok Antu junction last night.
A Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said that the pickup truck carrying the victim, a woman identified as Rotela Angela Roger, lost control before veering off into oncoming traffic and overturning into a ditch.
“The fire brigade team utilized a tow truck to move the vehicle to extricate the victim trapped under the vehicle.
“After successfully removing the victim, she was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from the Ministry of Health,” the spokesman said in a statement today.
The fire department received an emergency call at 8:40 p.m. and dispatched a team from the Betong Fire and Rescue Station.
The 24 year-old driver, Phil Y.buan Nyalu, and another passenger, Ricardo Jinggau, sustained injuries in the accident.
The two victims were brought to a hospital by ambulance for treatment.-TVS
