KUCHING, Mar 19: The Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is opening 128 vacancies across Sarawak.

Bukit Aman NCID chief, Dato’ Khaw Kok Chin, said that experienced police officers are targeted to fill the vacancies.

“We will be seeking experienced police officers to fill the vacant positions in areas where there are no officers or members in the 13 districts,” he told reporters after paying a courtesy call to the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, at his office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia, here today.

Meanwhile, Khaw highlighted that the drug abuse situation in the state is reported to be under control.

To reinforce NCID’s commitment to combating drug abuse activities in Sarawak, a Narcotics Nucleus Secretariat (SNN) office will be established in the Tebedu area.

Khaw said the SNN will serve as a hub to provide PDRM with intelligence on drug-related activities.

“We will establish an SNN office in the Tebedu area to make it a convenient place to store research information such as narcotic drug smuggling activities in that area.

“In addition to obtaining information, we will take preemptive measures to combat drug distribution activities,” he added.

Also present at the courtesy call were Deputy Director of Narcotics SAC Mat Zani @ Mohd Salahuddin Che Ali and Chief of NCID Sarawak Division, ACP Mustafa Kamal Ghani Abdullah.- TVS
