KUCHING, Feb 24: Local band Meruked released their latest single ‘Kining Posah’ with an accompanying music video, today.

‘Kining Posah’ which means ‘crystal clear’ in the Bidayuh Bau language, encapsulates a metaphorical journey of personal growth and renewal.

“The song explores themes of resilience and the transformative power of expression, echoing the band’s own evolution as artists,” the band said in a statement.

‘Kining Posah’ is a collaborative project between Meruked and human rights NGO, Article 19, together with Sarawak Women for Women Society and HAUS Kuching, to address hate speech in Malaysia through cultural exploration.

“This partnership underscores music’s potency as a vehicle for social discourse and introspection.

“This is the perfect example of how we should use platforms to show what we can come up with,” said lead singer Syed Ashraf.

The six-piece band from Kuching drew inspiration from Sarawak’s rich musical tapestry, incorporating the sape into their eclectic sound.

With a fusion of traditional and contemporary musical elements, Meruked has captivated audiences far and wide, including performances at the Rainforest World Music Festival 2023. -TVS
