KUCHING, Feb 21: The passing of the former Governor and Chief Minister of Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud represents a great loss of a political figure, says President of Sarawak Federation of Chinese Association Dato Richard Wee.
He added that the late Tun Taib has contributed significantly to the state’s economy, development and political stability throughout his career which extended to his tenure as Chief Minister.
“The Federation of Chinese Associations of Sarawak and I would like to express our deepest sympathies and sadness on the passing of our Former Sarawak Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud on the 21st February 2024.
“The late Tun Taib has served Sarawak and the Nation throughout his life time.
“His passing is a big loss and he will be sorely missed,” he said when contacted by TVS.
Taib, who served as Sarawak’s Chief Minister for over three decades, passed away at the age of 87 this morning at 4:40am at a private hospital in Kuala Lumpur. – TVS
