KUCHING, Feb 21: The passing of former governor Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud meant that Sarawak has lost a great visionary leader, said Deputy Minister of Transport Sarawak Dato Henry Harry Jinep.
Henry added that the late leader has made significant contributions for the state of Sarawak.
“We have lost a great visionary leader. He has done great work for Sarawak which allow smooth transition of power to the present leadership.
“He will be cherished, respected and remembered at all time. May he rest in eternal peace, amen,” he said when contacted by TVS earlier today.
Henry expressed profound sadness for Taib’s passing, as he had a close personal relationship with the former governor.
The Sarawak Government declared a two-day mourning period starting today to honor the passing of Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.
In an official statement, the State Government also announced that flags throughout Sarawak will be flown at half-mast and any entertainment events will be postponed.-TVS
