DEBAK, Feb 19: Financial constraints should no longer be the cause for deserving Sarawakian students not to further their studies until the highest qualification.
Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the state government will consistently provide assistance, particularly to new students from low-income families, to manage their initial expenses.
“We will try our best to help and monitor their welfare.
“We will not allow anyone to drop out simply because of financial problems,” he said.
Uggah affirms that should the students encounter problems in getting scholarships, they should contact their respective Member of Parliament (MP) through their service centre.
The Bukit Saban assemblyman added that as Sarawak ventures into new economies such as hydrogen, digital and carbon economies, the region would require many skilled professionals and workers.
“If the local workforce fails to meet the demand, outsiders may come to take up the vacancies,” he warned.
Earlier, Uggah presented incentives to 50 university students from his constituency. – TVS
