KUCHING, Dec 25: Sarawak achieved its highest revenue performance to date – at RM13.1 billion ringgit as the year comes to a close.
The figure was revealed by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to the press after attending The Bishop Kuching Christmas Open House at the St. Thomas Cathedral.
“I was informed by the latest number last week by the State Financial Secretary, Dato Sri Dr. Wan Lizozman Wan Omar.
“We reached RM13.1 billion because we have some dividends coming in December so this is a record in terms of our revenue.
“As we go along with our revenue engineering that the state government is doing and the various laws that have been introduced recently there is a possibility that our revenue will increase further,” he added.
Abang Johari also hopes that Sarawak will see more progression in revenue for 2024 and 2025.
On Feb 2, Abang Johari said Sarawak has recorded a revenue of RM11.9 billion for 2022.
He said Sarawak’s revenue comprised four main categories, namely tax revenue, non-tax revenue, non-revenue receipts and federal grants and reimbursements. – TVS
