DEBAK, Dec 18: Land title holders of the Jubilee Occupation Ticket (JOT) are urged to convert their land status to a Native Customary Rights (NCR) land.
Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas informed that when the JOT tenure expires, such land would be considered state land.
“Our Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has been very sympathetic to the owners of such land.
“He has consented for the land status to be changed into NCR land through an exercise to be handled by the Land and Survey Department,” he said here, today.
He advised the owners concerned to approach the Land and Survey Department for assistance and the necessary action.
The JOT is a pre-Sarawak Land Code land title and it was issued during the colonial government to those involved in rubber plantation.
Uggah said it was issued for every one acre or 200 rubber trees planted, and it was very prevalent in Sri Aman and Betong areas then. – TVS
