KUCHING, Nov 29: The Sarawak government, led by the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition, highly appreciates the commitment of its civil servants, recognising their unwavering integrity in serving the people’s well-being.
In a gesture of gratitude, Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has announced a special financial assistance, equal to two months’ salary, for all civil servants in Sarawak.
“In appreciation of the services rendered by civil servants, I am pleased to announce the disbursement of Special Financial Assistance to all members of the Sarawak Civil Service, including Sarawak Statutory Bodies and Sarawak Local Authorities, equivalent to two months’ basic salary.
“This Special Assistance payment will be made before the end of the year 2023,” he said.
Abang Johari said this during his third reading of the Supply Bill 2024 at the State Legislative Assembly, here today.
Additionally, he estimated that around 28,000 members of the state civil service statutory body and local councils, involving financial implications of RM172 million.
Furthermore, Abang Johari also announced financial assistance of RM600 to be extended to all federal civil service members serving in the state throughout the year 2023.
“We also acknowledge the Federal Civil Servants who have worked together and contributed to the socio-economic development efforts in Sarawak throughout this year.
“They comprise approximately 130 thousand Federal Civil Servants, including Uniformed Bodies, Security Personnel, and specific Federal Statutory Bodies.
“This is anticipated to involve an estimated financial implication of RM78 million and will be disbursed early next year,” he added. – TVS
