KUCHING, Nov 27: Sarawak Ministry of Utility and Telecommunications, through the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), will develop a digital application wayleave permits to streamline the execution of telecommunications projects in the state.
Its minister, Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi said that this initiative aims to ensure a more efficient and effective processing of wayleave permit applications.
“This is a step to address the recurring issue of wayleave permits faced during the implementation of utility and telecommunication projects.
“Reducing wayleave permit problems and ensure projects are executed without delays,” His ministerial winding-up session at the State Legislative Assembly today.
He noted that amendments to the Electricity Ordinance (Amendment) 2023, which was passed authorises Sarawak Energy as the electrical license holder to enter site locations for the purpose of implementation, repair, and maintenance of electrical projects.
“This digital application system will later be expanded for the implementation of water and electricity supply projects,” he added. – TVS
