BALI, Nov 22: Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is slated to be bestowed with the esteemed title of ‘Honorary Distinguished Fellow’ during the forthcoming 41st ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations (CAFEO-41) Conference.
This particular accolade is selectively reserved for individuals of conspicuous eminence who have demonstrated exceptional contributions to the engineering profession, institutional advancements, and significant national endeavours, bearing the distinguished post-nominal “Dist. Hon. FAFEO.”
The delegation arrival on Tuesday at approximately 1.40 pm was warmly welcomed by representatives of the Association of Sarawak Bumiputera Consulting Engineers (GJPBS) and Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Sarawak branch followed by a dinner hosted by GJPBS.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Ir Aidel Lariwoo, Senior Private Secretary to the Premier of Sarawak, Dato Khir Busrah and Sarawak State Finance Secretary, Dato Sri Dr. Wan Lizozman Wan Omar.
The grand opening ceremony of CAFEO-41 is scheduled to unfold at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Centre tomorrow (November 22).
Abang Johari together with the three Indonesian ministers are then scheduled to participate in the ASEAN Ministerial Forum.
Indonesia, holding the rotating turn among the 10 ASEAN countries, hosts this year’s conference under the theme “Igniting ASEAN’s Blue Economy and Green Energy.”
Organised by the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII), the three-day conference from November 20 to 23 is anticipated to bring together over 1,000 delegates, including Indonesian, ASEAN engineers, and international representatives.
CAFEO serves as a vital platform for engineers, professionals, and experts from the 10 ASEAN countries to exchange knowledge, experience, and best practices in the field of engineering.
The 41st edition follows the 40th CAFEO held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from December 5 to 8, 2022, which convened 50 delegates. – TVS
