PALESTINE, November 15: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out a ‘precise and targeted operation’ in Al-Shifa Hospital, alleging Hamas base beneath the medical complex.
Citing an international news agency, the operation involved IDF forces, including soldiers and tanks, stationed in the hospital’s courtyard.
This action followed several days of intense attacks in the surrounding areas, where thousands sought refuge amid Israel’s assault.
The situation worsened as decaying bodies couldn’t be buried or transported due to IDF restrictions, escalating tensions in the conflict.
According to the Director General of Gaza’s Health Ministry, Dr. Munir al-Bursh, Israeli forces searched the basement of al-Shifa and entered the surgical and emergency buildings within the complex where explosions could be heard.
“They (IDF) are using loudspeakers and ordering refugees to surrender themselves.
“They were then blindfolded, stripped of their clothes and taken to an unknown location to be interrogated,” he added.
According to the surgeon from al-Shifa, Dr. Ahmed El Mokhallalati, about 700 patients remain at the hospital, including 100 in critical condition while more than 1,000 medical staff are trapped on site, but are unable to treat patients due to a shortage of medicine and fuel.
“Currently, there are more than 180 dead bodies scattered around the hospital’s courtyard including seven babies and 29 intensive care patients who have died since the hospital ran out of fuel on Saturday,” said Ahmed.
Israel’s actions since October 7th have resulted in the deaths of over 11,200 Palestinians, including 6,405 children.
The ongoing conflict, marked by Israel’s insistence on a ceasefire and the siege on al-Shifa Hospital, is fueling global protests.
In the United States, videos depict protests taking various forms, from destroying public property and statues to looting shops.
This unrest is a response to the US government’s vote against the ceasefire. – TVS
