There is no substitute for victory – Netanyahu

ByYusuf Shukri

TEL AVIV, Nov 7: Despite global calls for a ceasefire in the Israel-Palestine conflict, Israel has not complied and continues its ongoing offensive, resulting in the tragic loss of numerous innocent lives, including children.

Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is now seeking support from its allies to shift their focus towards other ‘terrorist’ groups, potentially leading to further conflicts in the Middle East.

“The axis of terror is led by Iran, it includes Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthis and their other minions.

“If the Middle East falls to the axis of terror, Europe will be next. And no one will be safe,” he said during a meeting with foreign ambassadors in the capital Tel Aviv late Monday.

Netanyahu also reiterated his stance that there is no substitute for victory until they have completely eradicated Hamas at the expense of innocent lives.

After 32 days, the conflict, which has roots dating back over 70 years, continues to capture global attention.

The devastating toll has resulted in over 10,000 Palestinian casualties, nearly half of whom are children, prompting the United Nations (UN) to label Gaza as a ‘children’s graveyard.’

This alarming statistic led UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to urgently call for a humanitarian ceasefire, stressing the obligation of all parties involved to adhere to international humanitarian law.

“Nothing can justify the deliberate torture, killing, injuring and kidnapping of civilians. The protection of civilians must be paramount. I am deeply concerned about the clear violations of international humanitarian law that we are witnessing,” added Guterres.

Additionally, at least 36 journalists and media workers have been killed and gained notoriety as the deadliest conflict for journalists since the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) began documenting journalist fatalities in 1992.

As the war continues, over 2.2 million Palestinians are deprived of food, water, electricity and shelter while relentless attacks by Israel cause death by the hundreds daily on Palestinian lands. – TVS
