Agong, Permaisuri to touch base with rakyat through “Kembara Kenali Borneo”

KUCHING, Sep 5: The visit of their Majesties, the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’Ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah under the ‘Kembara Kenali Borneo’, promises to offer them a unique and immersive experience of Sarawak’s rich and diverse culture and heritage.

This exceptional visit reflects their genuine interest in exploring and celebrating the cultural tapestry of Sarawak.

Sarawak state secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki expressed the significance of this visit as an opportunity for their Majesties to engage with the multifaceted aspects of Sarawak’s cultural identity.

He revealed that, that the Sarawak government has meticulously crafted a comprehensive itinerary that will allow their Majesties to engage with a diverse array of ethnic groups throughout the convoy.

“Their majesties will visit all the ethnic groups in Sarawak such as the Malays, the Ibans, the Bidayuhs, the Chinese, the Orang Ulus including the Kedayan and the Penans during their “Kembara Kenali Borneo,” Abu Bakar said after paying a courtesy visit to Acting Head of State Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Asfia Bin Awang Nassar at the Astana here on Tuesday.

The journey is set to commence from Lawas and extend all the way to Telok Melano, spanning from September 7th to September 13th, 2023.

Abu Bakar highlighted that this presents an ideal opportunity for Sarawakians to proudly display their cultural diversity and serve as a national exemplar for religious tolerance and racial harmony.

He further added that throughout the expedition, their Majesties would engage with individuals from various backgrounds, gaining firsthand insights into their ways of life and experiences.

“Their majesties will also have the opportunities to see for themselves the basic needs of the rural populace such as roads, bridges, jetties and roadside stalls,” he pointed out.

Abu Bakar, who is also the chairman of the organising committee for their Majesties’ visit to Sarawak, underlined that the Sarawak government will also incorporating official programs for their Majesties during their stay.

Additionally, Abu Bakar expressed hope that other federal leaders would take inspiration from the exemplary visit of their Majesties and also engage with grassroots communities.

“To me, what His Majesty is doing now must be emulated by other top federal leaders to touch base with the rakyat in Sarawak,” he added.

The “Kembara Kenali Borneo” from 3 to 13 September, will offer a unique experience, recording historic moments through various cultural programs and tribal handicrafts as it travels from Tawau, Sabah, to Telok Melano, Sarawak. – TVS
