KUCHING, August 28th: A six-year old boy was found burnt in a noon fire on Monday (August 28) which destroyed five double-storey houses at RPR Batu Kawa.
According to a statement issued by the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the victim was identified as Zayyan Nazeem Zainal Abidin. His charred remains were found in a bedroom on the upper-floor of one of the houses.
Other occupants of the respective houses escaped the fire, which occurred at 1pm.
It said the department received a distress call one the fire at 1.12pm and three teams from various Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene.
Batu Lintang Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Mohamad Raffy Saibi, the charred remains of Zayyan was discovered at 3.33pm among debris following the 1.12pm incident.
The victim’s body has since been handed over to the police for further action.
A total of five house were destroyed in the ill-fated incident, four houses were destroyed while the fift house suffered 20 percent damage.
Mohamad Raffy pointed out that a total of 18 personnel, along with two fire trucks from the Batu Lintang and Padungan Fire and Rescue Stations, were dispatched to the scene.
The cause of fire and total losses have yet to be ascertained and is being investigated- TVS
