KUCHING, AUG 17: Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, has been officially sworn in as the acting Head of State (TYT) from August 16 until September 17, 2023.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at Astana Negeri witnessed by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and High Court Judge Justice Dato Alwi Bin Abdul Wahab.
This appointment as Acting TYT was necessitated by the extended overseas leave of Governor Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.
In accordance to the Sarawak constitution, where in the absence of the Head of State, the speaker of DUN is designated to act as the interim representative.
Among those present were Asfia’s wife Puan Sri Datin Amar Dato Fatimah Mohd Iskandar and Abang Johari’s wife Datin Patinggi Dato Juma’Ani Tuanku Bujang – TVS
