KUCHING, Aug 1: The Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, is currently recovering after falling ill while overseas.
“Tun Taib is in constant communication with the State Government and is and is able to discharge his official and constitutional duties.
“Therefore, the appointment of an acting Head of State is not required,” said Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, in a statement.
Hasidah added that the State Government is consistently informed about Tun Taib’s medical condition, and any further actions taken will adhere to the guidelines outlined in the State Constitution and in the best interest of the state. – TVS
