TRACE 2023: Private Sectors and Higher Learning Institutions Spearhead Transformative Development

KUCHING, June 22: The Talent Recruitment and Career Exhibition (TRACE) 2023, an annual event, acts as a platform for fostering collaboration between students, industries, and institutions to understand each other’s requirements and aspirations.

As one of the largest career exhibition in Borneo, TRACE 2023 witnessed a remarkable gathering of 59 industry players.

These organisations extended over 1,000 employment opportunities to graduates in Sarawak, providing them with a wide range of options to kick-start their professional journeys.

According to Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, private sectors and higher education institutions play a crucial role in facilitating the youths career path.

“Private sectors pose as an agent of development, through their collaboration with higher education institutions.

“They can ensure that Sarawakian youths are fully equipped with knowledge to enter the job market, in various sectors of economy,” he said this in a text speech who was read by Chief Political Secretary to the Premier of Sarawak, Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.

Elaborating further, Awang Tengah also encouraged youths to seize the opportunity to secure jobs in industries.

He also revealed of an expected projection of 145,000 new high paying jobs created between 2021 to 2030.

“In the ever dynamic industry. I strongly encourage graduates to fulfill the needs of sectors which are relevant to support the Sarawak Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

”This is your opportunity as graduates to secure jobs in sectors, especially in the new economy, such as digital economy, hydrogen, be it blue or green hydrogen,” he added.

Meanwhile, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Unimas and the Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC) to establish a framework for collaboration and cooperation in strategic research and development activities in the field.

The MoU also facilitates the conduct of SIDC’s certifications and qualifications such as the Securities Commission Malaysia Licensing Examination (‘SCLE’) and the Certified Capital Market Professionals (CCMP).

The agreement was inked by UNIMAS representative Vice Chancellor Professor Dato Dr Mohammad Kadim Suaidi, Deputy Vice Chancellor Research and Innovation Professor Dr Wan Hashim Wan Ibrahim, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Professor Dr Rossazana Ab Rahim.

SIDC on the other hand was represented by its Chief Executive Officer Tengku Zarina Tengku Chik and Director of Innovation, Advice and Industry Engagement Sarimah Ramthandin.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Unimas Board of Directors chairman Tan Sri Sulong Matjeraie. – TVS
